Having had my interest piqued by the latest of Nike’s hilarious Play in the Now ads (yes, I fell for their advertising… again) I decided to try their new RZN Ball Recommender. Having arrived at Nike’s predictably slick-looking site, I took stock of the choice. The choices are broken down into categories – Red, White, Black or Platinum each with a different combination of qualities of MOI, distance and feel.
Each of the balls seem pretty compelling, but on paper, or screen to be more accurate, the White ball seemed to suit me best. I don’t have the highest of swing speeds and I like plenty of feel around the greens to get the ball close, usually to rescue wayward long-iron shots.
I took the test, answering questions about my swing to get my final result. I was recommended the Black ball. This is the Tour version, and according to Nike’s website used by Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, and Susann Peterson. Lofty company indeed!
Did you try the RZN recommendation tool? How did it work out for you? Let us know in the comments below. In the meantime, we’ll contact Nike and see if we can get some balls reviewed out on the course, then let you know the results.
